Charlottesville, we've got a few special treats lined up for you this holiday season! In partnership with Computers 4 Kids and two Fourth-Year UVA Engineering students, we are bringing Holiday Light Shows to IX Art Park throughout the month of December! Our friends from UVA have graciously decided to give back to the city that has given them so much over the years by combining their engineering backgrounds with their love for Christmas and LED lights. The end result? Holiday Light Shows that are free to all members of the Charlottesville community! No tickets are required for this event, but there is a suggested donation of $5 per person, with all of the proceeds going to Computers 4 Kids (C4K).
C4K equips Charlottesville and Albemarle County youth (6-12th grade) from low-income households with 21st-century skills to be competitive in college and careers. To do so, they provide supportive individual and group mentoring, a creative out-of-school learning environment, access to professional-grade technology, project-based learning, and youth leadership opportunities. One of the most important things C4K does is help local youth from economically disadvantaged homes imagine bigger and better possibilities for themselves.
So come on out this December with the family and celebrate this special time of year! Stop by the 3 Notch’d Craft Kitchen for food and drinks beforehand, and then head outside at 6:30 for a 30 minute light show! Feel free to bring chairs and blankets - whatever you need to get cozy and in the holiday spirit!
The light show will be running 6:30 - 7 on Sat 12/15, Sun 12/16, Fri 12/21, Sat 12/22, Sun 12/23, & Mon 12/24.
